Christmas 2007:
BBC One - Voyage Of The Damned (60 minutes)
"Time Crash", the new 8 minute Doctor Who mini-episode for Children
In Need, aired on BBC One last night (16 November) at 8:17PM and
12:44AM (no late night repeat in Northern Ireland). It featured David
Tennant and Peter Davison as The Doctor. Like the untitled episode in
Children In Need 2005 (sometimes called Pudsey Cutaway), this
installment was intended to raise money for charity. Don't expect it
to air on TV again. It is available for the next week on the Children
In Need website at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/onthenight/article_doctorwho.shtml and
will presumably be on the Series 4 DVD boxset (as Pudsey Cutaway was
on Series 2). The website has details about Children In Need and how
to donate.
It appears that viewers outside the UK are excluded from seeing "Time
Crash" on the Children In Need site. "Pudsey Cutaway" was streamed
without restriction in 2005 but much of the Doctor Who video online
since then has been restricted to the UK. It is unknown if viewers
outside the UK will be provided a legal way of seeing "Time Crash"
prior to the Series 4 boxset release.
The Sarah Jane Adventures will conclude their first full series this
Monday at 5:30PM GMT on the CBBC Channel. If you are following Sarah
Jane on BBC One then the finale will air on 26 November at 5PM GMT.
It has been a fun series so far, and hopefully this spinoff from
Doctor Who will get commissioned for another series soon (and maybe
aired in other countries so we can easily see it).
New Zealand Doctor Who fans get to see Last Of The Time Lords on
Prime http://www.primetv.co.nz this Sunday at 7:30PM. Here's hoping
it is the full 51 1/2 minute version rather than the 45 minute
international version. Either way - it is the end of the current run.
French Canadian Doctor Who fans with Ztele http://www.ztele.com/index.jsp get Last of the Time Lords in French starting this Tuesday at 8PM Eastern. If anyone has had any success searching their site lately, let me know. They claim you need to upgrade your flash player, you get the latest flash player, and it still says you need to upgrade ...
Section B (US public TV stations) has been simplified a little bit to
make it easier to read and to keep track of Series 2 of Doctor Who,
which will be available to stations in Spring 2008 if enough of them
buy into the contract. It is unclear if The Christmas Invasion is
included in the new package offered to stations. The package claims
to be 13 x 45 minutes.
SciFi US http://www.scifi.com is adding some January schedule information to their search engine. Doctor Who gets an 8 hour marathon of Series 2 on Monday 7 January from 8AM Eastern. Also, Doctor Who is getting the Early Friday 5AM Eastern (Late Thursday in the schedulebot) timeslot for a weekly run beginning Friday 4 January (currently Roswell is airing in that slot). It will be December before we know if SciFi is starting with Series 1, 2, or 3 for the 5AM run.
BBC America http://www.bbcamerica.com will repeat Doctor Who Series 2
and Torchwood Series 1 at a rate of 2 episodes per weekend starting 8
December (1 week after the current series of each concludes). Most of
BBC America's lineup will be made up of the "best of BBC America for
2007", so marathons and other scheduling stunts may occur during the
month. Doctor Who will air Saturdays at 6 and 7PM Eastern (3 and 4PM
Pacific), with the first episode repeating twice during the weekend.
Torchwood schedule information is included in the Torchwood This Week
column http://groups.yahoo.com/group/torchwood .
